Long time ago, Qiantang River flew across Hangwu Mountain and wandered into sea. No boatyard was available along the river bank. Gou Jian, the king of ancient Yue Country, once collected stones from here for contruction of his capital city.

Ancient residents inhabited a region, and "Hangmin" village got its name.

Then, there was an ever lighting pharos on Hangwu Mountain to direct boats marching in river, which also directed Hangmin village to break away from poverty.
